Indianapolis - He may not be able to buy love, but Indianapolis Colt's owner Jim Irsay did buy former Beatle Ringo Starr's drum kit.
Now, John, Paul, George, and Ringo are reunited — or at least their instruments are, anyway.
Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts American football team, is an avid rock music collector who owns more than 175 classic guitars. Including the guitars that belonged to John, Paul, and George, The Telegraph reports.
"Finally, after 45 years, the Beatles are together again," Irsay wrote in a text message to The Associated Press, Fox Sports reports.
According to Julien's Auction's, Irsay bought the iconic drums Friday at a sale in Beverly Hills, CA. The auction featured more than 800 items owned by the former Beatle and his wife, actress Barbara Bach.
Also available at the auction, according to BBC News: A guitar owned by John Lennon, who gave it to Starr in 1968; some of Starr's signature rings, and his very own copy of The White Album. Part of the proceeds will go to the Lotus Foundation, founded by Bach and Starr. The foundation provides funding for and promotes charitable projects dedicated to improving social welfare.
Starr used the now-famous 1963 Ludwig Oyster Black Pearl three-piece kit in more than 200 performances from May 1963 to February 1964. The drum kit is featured on recordings including "Can't Buy Me Love," "She Loves You," "All My Loving," and "I Want to Hold Your Hand."
Irsay definitely loves classic rock. He owns roughly 30 famous guitars, including instruments used by Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Jerry Garcia.
