Cody Canyon from Chippendales talks ‘Fight Song,’ music plans (Includes interview)

Most recently, Canyon performed with the Chippendales in such venues as The Paramount in Huntington and Gramercy Theatre in New York, and despite the freezing cold weather, it had a big turnout. “The shows in New York were fine,” he said. “The crowd really responded well to them. They always do. We make it the best that we can.”

In the Chippendales live shows, Canyon sings an impressive version of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” which has an orchestral arrangement to it. “The idea was conceived before our Europe tour last year. With the help of my buddy, Travis, who is the drummer, we composed the entire arrangement to ‘Fight Song’,” he said.

Canyon writes orchestral cinematic pieces, such as his album Acheron, and he is working on his second studio album, which will be less cinematic. “Acheron is a cinematic orchestral album that you would hear in some superhero, action movie,” he said.

His single “An Ocean of Light” reached No. 111 on the iTunes charts. “That was a shocker, for that single,” he admitted. “I didn’t know it was going to be received so well.”

Canyon’s future plans include earning his holistic nutrition certification. “I’m a huge advocate in holistic nutrition and alternative medicine,” he said. “Between that and composing music. Those are my two biggest passions as of now.”
