Chris Lane in the Top 5 of Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star Contest

Lane will be vying for the opening performance slot at the forthcoming iHeartRadio Music Festival in 2015, and his fans will be able to preview that song on Macy’s iHeartRadio website.

The country newcomer is flattered to be in the running, where he will compete with artists from all genres of music. “I can’t thank my fans enough for going to bat for me,” Lane said in a press release.

Country fans can vote from now until May 24 via that website, or on Twitter by using the hashtag #RisingStar, along with Chris Lane’s Twitter handle.

He is receiving major support from hot country music duo Florida Georgia Line, who had Lane as their opening act this past summer, while on tour with Nelly. “Y’all make sure to tweet or retweet @iamchrislane and #RisingStar,” Brian and Tyler from Florida Georgia Line tweeted to their fans and followers.

Speaking of Macy’s, Lane will be making a special appearance at his hometown Macy’s in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, at Hanes Mall on May 16.
