Wings of the Whale is made up of front-man Kevin Magone, Casey Ericson on lead guitar, Pete Digregorio on bass, as well as drummer Nick Safuto.
Regarding their opening slot for Badfish at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall, lead singer Kevin Magone said, “It’s actually amazing because every time Badfish plays here it’s like a party. It is such a great atmosphere. It’s an amazing stage to play.”
When asked about the band’s name origin, they noted that it dealt with the last song that they performed live. “All of a sudden we called it ‘Wings of the Whale,’ and Kevin thought it would be a pretty cool band name to put out there,” Nick said.
Their band is a blend of such musical genres as funk, hip hop, alternative and hard rock, and they are all originally from Long Island. They have been a band for the past year and a half.
Regarding their plans for the future, Casey said, “We definitely want to go on tour. We are having a mini-tour right now, to get as much experience as we possibly can. We are playing on Sunday night in Brooklyn.”
Kevin shared that they would love to someday perform at The Paramount in Huntington, especially since one of his biggest musical influences, Citizen Cope, played there recently. The band was also inspired by Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante and Led Zeppelin.
