On performing at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall, Nichols said, “It feels great. The airplane ride was nice and easy, and the week has been nice and smooth. I don’t think I could ask for a better week.”
His radio single, “Freaks Like Me,” was produced by veteran producer Mickey Jack Cones. “I love the song and I love the message. I had fun cutting the song in the studio,” he said.
Nichols revealed that he had a fun time at last year’s inaugural FarmBorough festival in New York. “I loved it. That was a great time. Fun crowd and fun stage,” he said.
He noted that his family, which is comprised of his loving wife, and three daughters are all doing fine. “They are doing great. I couldn’t ask for anything more,” he said.
Nichols’ New Year’s resolution is to get back on his exercise regimen. “I got to get ready for the year. It’s so easy to get lost in July, and eat pizza and hamburgers every day, rather than salads. Every year at January, I need to probably get a plan together that will help me curb that,” he said.
He also took the time to honor the late country music queen, Lynn Anderson, who was best known for her song “Rose Garden.” “I was sad to hear that she passed away. Not only was the song huge, but she was a good ambassador for country music,” he said. “I don’t sing many girl songs, but that’s one of them. I always loved ‘Rose Garden.'”
When asked which of his songs his daughters enjoy the most, he listed “Sunny and 75” and “Yeah.”
