Nashville - Rising country singer M Callahan chatted with me about his plans for the future and his Indie Music Channel award win for "Best Male Country Artist."
Callahan, who hails from Little Rock, Arkansas, was the recipient for "Best Male Country Artist" at the 2014 Indie Music Channel Awards. "It is great and it made me feel that things are moving forward. We are getting some momentum going and it is great that other people like my music," he said.
Regarding his plans for the future, Callahan remarked, "We have five songs recorded right now, and we are going to go ahead to track some vocals and do some of the editing here in Nashville. The new EP should be out in the fall."
The singer-songwriter added, "I am going to keep playing local shows out here and I will do doing more regional gigs and trying to approach radio stations with the new EP."
His single "Chicken on a Chain" fared well on the country charts in Europe, reaching No. 1 and staying there for two weeks, on the Hot Disc Country Charts. "That was great, and we are going to send the next single over there 'Wrecking My World' in mid-August. I am going over to Europe to play in the beginning of September in one of the festivals there," he said. "The reception in Europe is really great."
He was also named one of Digital Journal's "Top Male Country Singers To Watch in 2014" list, which was quite humbling for the Arkansas native.
Particularly impressive about Callahan is that his music spans three different genres, such as country, pop and even Americana.
