article imageBrian Marquis signs to Equal Visions Records for new LP

By Kathleen Creighton     Apr 6, 2014 in Music
On March 27th Equal Visions Records announced that they had signed Brian Marquis. The label also shared that they will release Marquis's first full-length solo album on May 13th. In the meantime he will debut The Acoustic Basement UK Tour this month.
Former front-man of Therefore I Am, Brian Marquis, continues on the road to success not only as a musician but as a tour producer. In 2011, Marquis launched the Acoustic Basement stage at Vans Warped Tour under the tutelage of tour founder, Kevin Lyman. In 2013, Marquis spun-off The Acoustic Basement Tour with four of his stage mates to keep interest in Warped Tour going during the winter months. This year, following the expansion of Vans Warped Tour to the UK, Marquis is getting ready to take The Acoustic Basement "across the pond". Original ABT artists Geoff Rickly (Thursday) and KOJI will team up with UK local Rob Lynch to perform throughout England from April 20th to the 30th.
Marquis will return to the U.S. just in time to launch his new album, Blood & Spirits on his new label. Based on preview information from Equal Visions, the new record is a compilation of tracks that are uniquely Brian. It appears that it will be the entree to the appetizer that the EP Snow Damage was. Having interviewed Marquis in February, the fact that this album also bears the influences of his accident on last summer's Warped Tour was known before reading the press release. At the tour's stop in Key West, it was, again, the victim of Florida's propensity for fast moving, severe thunderstorms. Crew and musicians all followed assigned protocol to insure the safety of the audience as well as their own. Marquis was at his post, taking care of his stage and the tent over it. In doing that job, he was struck by lightening. He shared that the aftermath of that experience included a period of depression. He said that getting back into the studio and writing new music pulled him out of that dark place and helped restore his drive and his muses. Knowing this increases this writer's anticipation for the album.
The tracklist includes ten tracks:
1. Drink You Up
2. Paralysis by Analysis
3. I'm Still Chasing You
4. Burn the Bridge, Swim the River
5. Highways and Heartache
6. Hem & Haw
7. From Boston
8. Young and Dumb
9. Never Disappear
10. Breathing in Ghosts
