By Markos Papadatos     Mar 8, 2015 in Music
Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe have a major reason to be proud. Their duet single "Lonely Tonight" is No. 1 on country radio.
It was the follow-up to "Neon Light," and "Lonely Tonight" has charted for 16 weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts, and it was well-received by Digital Journal.
This marks Shelton's 14th career No. 1 hit single, as well as the first time that Monroe has reached the top of the country charts. Aside from being a solo artist, Monroe is a part of the country trio Pistol Annies, where she is joined by Shelton's wife, reigning Country Music Association (CMA) "Female Vocalist of the Year" Miranda Lambert.
"Lonely Tonight" was released as a radio single via their record label, Warner Music Nashville. It was co-penned by such songwriters as Brent Anderson and Ryan Hurd. It is a track on Shelton's latest studio album, Bringing Back the Sunshine, which peaked at the top of the Billboard 200 all-genre charts, as well as the Billboard Top Country Albums charts.
