Throughout his respected career in the music industry, which spans over 40 years, Joel has sold over 150 million albums worldwide, and he is the sixth best-selling recording artist of all time, as well as the third best-selling solo artist and one of the highest-grossing touring acts in the world.
In November of 2014, Joel garnered The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, as well as the ASCAP Centennial Award. One year prior to that, he was a recipient of the Kennedy Centers Honors, which is one of the top cultural awards in America. He also holds six Grammy awards, and a Grammy Legend Award to his credit. He has his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.
Joel is also a member of the coveted Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also performed shows at Madison Square Garden for charity purposes such as “12-12-12, The Concert For Sandy Relief” and “The Concert for New York City,” the latter of which gave aid to the victims of September 11, 2001 and the heroes.
Most recently, Joel broke Elton John’s record for the most concerts performed at Madison Square Garden. His residency has been extended to the summer of 2016.
