Australia’s top female DJ Tigerlily talks proud moments, fans (Includes interview)

On electronic dance music, she said, “I love that dance music has the ability to unite people despite age, race, gender, religious belief, or distance. It’s an extremely powerful way to connect people around the globe.”

She was honored as Australia’s Top female DJ for three years in a row. “I feel incredibly blessed to do what I do, and to have people recognize me for what I do. The inthemix awards are Australia’s most prestigious dance awards and so to be named the No. 1 female DJ for three years in a row is just incredible. I really hope that by being a female in a male-dominated industry I provide a little spark of inspiration for other girls out there to give it a go, to get out of their comfort zone and to really chase their dreams.”

Her proudest professional moments include playing her first “Kiss My Tigerlily” show at Pacha Sydney to a sold-out crowd. “That was just amazing. Not to mention performing for the first time in the U.S.A. was amazing and was a moment in which I was really able to sit back and really appreciate my journey,” she said.

She foreshadowed that she will be playing shows in the U.S.A. and in New York City next year, in 2016. “Keep your eyes out Team Unicorn,” she said. “I’m really excited for the future. I plan to take a Tigerlily Tour worldwide, continue to release records and play a heap of shows. I’d also like to continue to become involved with other organizations that aren’t just music based. For example, I am currently an ambassador for R U OK Day which is an amazingly enriching and humbling experience.”

Each day, Tigerlily is motivated by the “prospect of being the best human possible.” “Whether that is through music, personal relationships, fitness goals, happiness, health, or all of the above. Each and every day I am motivated to make the most positive impact on the world that I can, and driven to be the best person I can be,” she said.

On her dream male duet partners, she said, “Vocally, I’d love to work with Pharell or John Legend, aiming for the stars. Also, doing a collaboration with Alesso would be just next level, cross fingers one day.”

Regarding the future of EDM, within the next five years, she said, “I have no idea to be honest, and that is the most exciting thing about it. All I hope for is that I am able to keep performing and producing music, and to continue to share the #TEAMUNICORN spirit with the world.”

For her dedicated fans, Tigerlily concluded, “Thank you so much for supporting me each and every day on this marvelous journey. Each and every one of you mean the world to me and I’m so excited to be able to create more memories with you, whether it be at shows, through music, or even through chatting online! I love you all! #TEAMUNICORN”
