Atlas Genius talks new album ‘Inanimate Objects’ and tour (Includes interview)

Regarding the song selection process, Keith said, “The nice problem that we had is that we had an excess of songs. We actually had 16 tracks that we finished, and five that didn’t quite make the cut, but I think they will be released later this year or early next year. It was really working out. The songs complimented each other, and I am fond of them all.”

Keith added, “On this album, it is more aggressive and there is definitely more guitar than on our first album.”

He listed the tunes “Friends With Enemies” and “Balladino” as his personal favorite songs on the record. “That changes from day to day, but I am really proud of ‘Friends With Enemies,’ since it is a departure from what we were doing in our previous album. It is a very slow track. There is also a song called ‘Balladino,’ which hasn’t been released yet. It is another slow track, but it is grand in its production,” he said.

Each day, the band is motivated by their potential to grow as artists. “You get better and better at realizing what is in your own head,” he said.

On their tour schedule, he said, “We have a bunch of shows coming up in the next few months. We are doing some of our own shows, and then we are doing some radio festivals as well. It is a mixed bag of shows.”
