2014 Canadian Music Week — May 6-10

By Kathleen Creighton     May 2, 2014 in Music
Toronto - Canadian Music 2014 week begins next Tuesday, May 6th and runs through May 10th. The event will feature over 1,000 artists representing 40 countries performing on more than 60 stages throughout downtown Toronto.
2014 marks the 32nd year of the largest music and media conference and festival. It is filled with some of the biggest names in today's music. Artists who will be performing include Tegan & Sara, M.I.A., Ellie Goulding and Flatbush Zombies. There are up and comers such as Parade of Lights, No Name Gypsy and The Wyld. Interviewers will sit down with music legends Nile Rodgers, Amanda Palmer and deadmau5. There will be keynote speeches by Terry Ellis of Chrysalis Music, David Shing from AOL and Glee music supervisor, PJ Bloom.
This is just a small taste of what is in store for CMW. All five days will be packed with the best of the best along with introductions to the newest artists, technology and ideas for the future of the music industry. To whet appetites and fill in the waiting time King Khan, who is also performing at the event, shared his playlist of songs he thinks everyone should be listening to on the CMW site. Tracks are all seriously great music that has been well researched...not what spins on the radio but what people need to be listening to if they want genuine art.
Canadian Music Week is all about getting feet in doors, digging in for the long haul and looking forward to increase career longevity. It is about radio, film, comedy. It is about seeing and being seen. CMW has been a jump-off point for some of today's biggest and best. At the end of the week there are awards events to recognize the talent and hard work of these artists and the people behind them.
