NetherRealm Studios and WB Games have streamed the latest trailer for Mortal Kombat X.
This new trailer gives the gist of Mortal Kombat X’s story, which takes place in a span of 25 years, and introduces new and returning characters. It helps that you read the Mortal Kombat X: Blood Ties comic book series that DC Comics releases digitally on a weekly basis.
The trailer reveals returning characters: Mileena, Rain, Sindel, and Goro.
New characters added are Takahashi Takeda, Kung Jin, and Jacqui Briggs. Takeda and Jacqui, introduced in the Mortal Kombat X: Blood Ties comic series, respectively are the son of Kenshi and daughter of Jackson “Jax” Briggs.
It also reveals the introduction of Kung Jin, a descendant of the original Kung Lao, the previous Mortal Kombat champion who fell to Goro’s might and gave Outworld the advantage.
Cassie is charged with leading Takeda, Jin, and Jacqui into Outworld to retrieve an amulet that is held by Mileena as it is her way of overthrowing Kotal Kahn and retaking the throne. It is the same amulet, introduced in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat 4, that traps the fallen elder god Shinnok.
The group knows that Outworld is the threat because of the civil war brewing between Kotal Kahn and Mileena, but they must avert a new threat. It is easier said than it is done because Cassie has a hard time getting the team to work together as Sub-Zero bluntly points out to her.
Mortal Kombat X comes out on April 14th.
You can look forward to new characters being revealed from now and until the game’s launch date. It is hinted that Johnny Cage, Cassie’s father, will return to fight in Mortal Kombat X.
