The Walking Dead: Season One and The Walking Dead: Season Two are now both available on both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. This is the first time the horror series has been made available in its entirety on the newest generation consoles.
For the uninitiated, "The Walking Dead" is a story based game that is set in the universe of Robert Kirkman's popular black and white comic book. While there are some similarities to the popular AMC television series, most of the characters in the video game are quite different. The game series has been available on mobile platforms, the PC and the Xbox 360 and PS3 for quite a while now. Telltale Games is starting to move its most popular franchise over to the next generation of consoles with the fairytale comic book video game "A Wolf Among Us" getting its PS4 and Xbox One release this coming Tuesday.
“Since the series premiere in 2012, the team has been incredibly proud to continue breaking new ground in the art of interactive drama as part of Robert Kirkman’s award-winning universe,” Kevin Bruner, President and Co-Founder at Telltale Games said in a recent release. “Now available on over six thousand devices from console to mobile, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 formats usher in an even greater reach for Telltale, and we’re excited to be preparing players across the world for an exciting third season that’s yet to come.”
"The Walking Dead" was initially released episodically but Xbox One and PS4 users can get the entire seasons in one go. In addition to "The Walking Dead" season one, users will also get the DLC for that season called "Days Gone By." Thanks in large part to being on so many platforms, Telltale has seen more than 33 million episodes selling across the globe. One drawback, when compared to other games that have made the jump from the previous generation to the Xbox One and the PS4 is that the graphics for this release haven't been souped up and there isn't much new being offered.
The popularity of the series could actually hamper sales of the PS4 and Xbox One versions because people have seen them already. It is, of course, a possibility there are some out there who have been waiting to purchase "The Walking Dead" on either the Microsoft Xbox One or the Sony Playstation 4.
