Mafia III will be set in a new city based on New Orleans in the 1960s, while focusing on themes of family, social changes and racism of the era. Player will take on the role of Lincoln Clay, an interracial orphan, who returns from the Vietnam War to avenge the death of his crew at the hands of the Italian Mafia.
Like previous titles in the series, the game will be set in an open world environment that will try to recreate the essence of the era. This will include focus on the details such as the design of the city along with the vehicles and style of the late 60s.
Player will have to do what ever is necessary to build up their gang while having to battle other factions who also fighting for control of the city. Other challenges presented will be having Clay function in society after his traumatic experiences in the war.
The trailer has already been praised by gamers and the media for its new story along with the themes it explores. More details are expected to be unveiled in the coming months, including a possible release date.
Mafia III will be the third game in the series that follows a character as they rise through the ranks of organized crime. The game is set to be released sometime in 2016 for the Next-Gen consoles and the PC.
