Kojima says The Phantom Pain will have Big Boss ‘soaked in blood’

Among the details unveiled is a new health system in which anytime Big Boss takes damage, it will be displayed and it will require some work to patch him up. Kojima has stated that as Big Boss takes damage, actions need to be taken as a simple rest or progression onto the next level will not auto heal him.

Kojima further added that the blood stains will remain on Big Boss until the player cleans him up. Hence; unless action is taken, players will literally have a Big Boss soaked in blood.

This announcement just further shows how Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a radically different game than its predecessors. With the exception of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, past games only required the player to use a military ration to heal themselves.

As the release date approaches, Konami along with Kojima are expected to unveil more details about the gameplay and the story. The majority of the announcements will be made through social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the tenth game in the series and is set to be released on September 1 for all major consoles along with the PC. Set after the events of Ground Zeroes, Big Boss awakes from a coma and establishes a new mercenary army while seeking revenge against XOF.
