New World Interactive has announced that they are planning to port their popular online tactical-shooter, 'Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat' to the Next-Gen consoles.
Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat has been hailed as one of the greatest tactical shooters for its emphasis on creating a realistic combat experience while requiring players to work together to achieve their objective.
The game has been very popular among old school gamers and fans of hardcore shooters. Currently the game is only available for the PC as a mod for Half-Life 2 or a stand alone game, but there may be plans to bring it to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360.
In an update posted on Steam Community, game director Jeremy Blum expressed his interest in bring the game to the Next-Gen consoles. He has stated, "Although the game may be considered a ‘finished’ product, we are constantly evolving our vision and looking forward to growing in the years to come. We have ‘next-gen’ and console ambitions. Whether or not we stay on the same engine, we will see, but one thing we know is this is just the beginning."
Its unclear when an official unveiling will take place, but news of Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat coming to console has already sparked the interest of gamers. Fans of military games and shooters were quick show their support online and on Steam.
Blum also discussed the games newly released DLC, Hunt, which is available for free to anyone who owns the stand alone version of the game.
Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat was released in 2007 as a mod than re-released as a stand alone game in early 2014. The game has been highly praised by critics and gamers while having won numerous awards.
