As reported by Jordan Devore of Destructoid, fans of the series have modified the game that adds to its longevity. These modifications include changing the appearance of a character, adding a new gameplay or putting in a few jokes.
The first mod that got the attention of the gaming community was one that replaced Snake’s character model with an in-game version of Hideo Kojima. This was made possible by using the character model used in one of the side-missions.
Another mod that has been released changes the gameplay mechanics by allowing play to play the it like a First-Person Shooter. The modification converts the games third-person view into a functioning first-person view that allows gamers to play the game more like a shooter.
For gamers wanting a good laugh, a mod has been made that turns all the NPC’s into birds. Other such mods have edited logo’s or added creative artwork to the games environment.
Given that the game has been out for only a month and the The Phantom Pain is set to be released sometime in 2015, its unclear how far modders are going to unleash their creativity. Most of the mods are available at NexusMod.
