Creative Assembly lead designer, Al Hope, wants to assure gamers that 'Alien: Isolation' will be nothing like 'Aliens: Colonial Marines.'
During an interview with IGN, Hope explains how his team have been working for about four years to develop a game that is inspired by the original Ridley Scott classic while breaking from the norm of games influenced the James Cameron film. He said during the interview, "Nobody has really made this kind of game before, games within the franchise have previously focused on the James Cameron experiences with Marines, Pulse Rifles, and lots of aliens. That is a totally cool experience but we wanted to make something that takes you back to Ridley Scott's haunted house in space."
Hope further elaborated how Creative Assembly has collaborate with 20th Century Fox and received access to all kinds of material related to the development of the original film. He ends the interview by expressing how he hopes the final game so good that it even impresses Ridley Scott.
Ever since Alien: Isolation was announced back in January, it has struggled to escape the shadow of Aliens: Colonial Marines' failure. In response, Sega along with many in the game media have tried to assure fans that the new title is a horror game and it will not be a disaster.
During its coverage of Alien: Isolation during E3, OXM reported on the struggle Creative Assembly was having in promoting the game as many who sampled the demo tried to play it like a shooter rather than a horror survival.
Alien: Isolation will be the fourth game in the franchise that is published by Sega and is set for released on October 7 for all major consoles along with the PC. The game will be set after the events of Alien and will have players take on the role of Amanda Ripley-McClaren who is searching for her missing mother.
