According to the NPD Group's annual report on the best selling games, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare along with Grand Theft Auto V dominated the top spot.
Based on the data collected, the overall sales of video games was at $13.10 billion in 2014. However it needs to be noted that the NPD Group does not take digital downloads into account, so the numbers in the data may not be accurate.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare took the top spot as the best selling game for 2014. It also took the top spot for December while being the best selling game of Black Friday. However; Eric Kain of Forbes noted that even though Advanced Warfare dominated the sales of 2014, Activision has not released the actual sales data.
Grand Theft Auto V took the the second place slot while the report included sales for all consoles. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version was released back in 2013 while the Next-Gen versions were released in 2014. The PC version is set to be releases on March 24, 2015.
Madden NFL 15 came in third while Super Smash Bros. took the fourth place spot, despite being only released for the Wii U. Meanwhile NBA 2K15 trailed as the fifth best selling game of 2014.
Other games listed were Minecraft, Far Cry 4, Just Dance 2015, Destiny and FIFA 15.
