In a massive blow to Nintendo gamers, Sledgehammer Games has confirmed that 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare' will not be released for the Wii U.
After months of speculation the issue was addressed when Sledgehammer Games co-founder, Michael Condrey, responded to a fan question on Twitter.
Condrey stated that Activsion made the decision to not release Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare on the Wii U. The reason is the publisher is more focused on releasing the game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It's unknown if Treyarch will try to develop a Wii U port sometime in the future.
The news didn't come as a surprise since the Call of Duty series hasn't been strongly associated with the Wii. Even though Black Ops II and Ghosts were made available for the Wii U, previous games were not released until a year after its official launch.
However the news was a disappointment to Nintendo gamers who were hoping for a new Call of Duty game this year.
Activsion may have joined other publishers who have decided to not put resources into releasing games for the Wii U. This is due to the console's weak sales, which have forced developers to focus more on making game for the PS4 and Xbox One.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be the eleventh game in the popular series and will be released on November 4 for all major consoles along with the PC. The game will be set in a future were Private Military Companies have grown to have great influence while one of them decides to turn against America.
