Blizzard Entertainment may be honoring the late Robin Williams in the upcoming expansion pack for the 'World of Warcraft.'
Gamers have found several files in the beta for Warlords of Draenor that indicate the presence of a Non-Playable Character (NPC) based on several of Williams iconic roles. The most obvious has been a blue genie named "Robin The Entertainer", this being a reference to his role as Genie in Aladdin.
Other possible characters include a man based on Mork from Mork & Mindy along with a women based on Mrs. Doubtfire.
Besides being a respected comedian and an acclaimed actor, Robin Williams was also an avid gamer who would play shooters and MMORPG's using a custom-built PC. He was also a fan of World of Warcraft and was well known among the gaming community for trolling other players in a friendly manner.
After his death, a petition was organized on asking Blizzard Entertainment to honor him with an in-game NPC in the World of Warcraft. In less than 24 hours, the studio officially confirmed that they will honor Williams.
A separate petition was organized asking Nintendo to do the same with the upcoming The Legend of Zelda game. Nintendo did respond but no official tribute has been announced.
World of Warcraft was released in 2004 and is the largest MMORPG with almost seven million subscribers as of 2014. Robin Williams was found dead at the age of 63 from suicide on August 10.
