A London West End musical based on The X Factor is to close after just two months. The show was well received but ticket sales were lower than anticipated.
Things are not so good in the world of X-Factor. Following news that the U.S. version of the talent show 'The X Factor' has been cancelled after three series, comes an announcement that a musical based on the television series is to close after just a few weeks. The musical, written by comedian Harry Hill, is called I Can't Sing!.
The musical opened to glowing reviews at the London Palladium in March,. However, it will close on May 10.
The story follows a young Londoner, played by Cynthia Erivo, who becomes a contestant on the television talent show only to find overnight fame difficult.
New musicals are not doing well in London. According to the BBC, stage version of hit film The Full Monty closed after five weeks, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Stephen Ward lasted for four months and the curtain came down on Sir Tim Rice's From Here to Eternity after six months.
