By Jessica Jones-Langley     Mar 14, 2014 in Entertainment
Decades in the making, a James Brown biopic has finally been made and the action-filled trailer for the film entitled 'Get On Up' has just been released.
The movie's tagline, "What you have heard is only the beginning," tempts audiences to watch the film by suggesting there is more to know about Brown's ascent into the music industry.
The trailer includes the expected screaming fans at concerts, suitcases of money, private planes, and a presidential meeting. It also includes the rocky side of Brown's life — his plane being shot at in Vietnam, and high speed police chases.
Directed by Tate Taylor, who also directed The Help, and produced by Mick Jagger under Jagged Films, Get on Up stars Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Jill Scott, and Dan Aykroyd.
Starring as Brown is possibly the biggest role to date for Boseman. Starring in the 2013 hit 42, Boseman has previously starred in TV shows including Castle, CSI: NY, Law & Order and Lie to Me.
Mick Jagger's co-producer Brian Grazer has been trying to make a James Brown biopic since the late 1990s. According to Rolling Stone, Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes had been rumored to play the legendary James Brown, with Spike Lee also rumored to direct.
Get On Up is set to be released on August 1st.
