article imageWarwick Davis to appear in new Star Wars movie

By Tim Sandle     Oct 19, 2014 in Entertainment
Actor Warwick Davis is to appear in the new Star Wars movie. The announcement was made via an amusing video, which plays on Davis' self-depreciating humor.
Warwick Davis played Wicket the Ewok in 1983's "Return of the Jedi." The Ewok character was reprised in two made-for-television movies: "Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure" and "Ewoks: The Battle for Endor."
Davis has featured in a range of other science fiction and fantasy movies. These parts included Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films and the lead in the film Willow. Davis also had three roles in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. These were: Weazel, a gambler sitting next to Watto at the Podrace; Wald, who was Anakin's Rodian buddy; and Yoda in some scenes where Yoda was seen walking.
In recent years, Davis has played parodies of himself in television shows, mostly in association with the comedian Ricky Gervais (including Extras and LIfe's Too Short.)
Davis announced, through an amusing video, that he is to return to the Star Wars universe according to Indie Wire. In the video he continues in the vein of his recent television characterture, making him self appear slightly desperate to continue his work with the franchise.
Star Wars episode VI is currently being shot at Pinewood studios in the U.K. The movie features many of the original cast, principally Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Antony Daniels and Peter Mayhew, together with new actors including Lupita Nyong'o, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow. The movie will be released on December 18, 2015.
