Persona fans that have watched the first two animated film adaptions of Persona 3 should be prepared for Persona 3 the Movie #3: Falling Down, scheduled to hit theaters across Japan on April 4th and will conclude the story.
This is the third and likely final installment of Persona 3’s movie adaptation.
Aniplex, the company in charge of production, streamed the first full-length trailer for the upcoming movie.
If you have played through the original game for the Playstation 2, then you should already be familiar with the story behind Persona 3 the Movie #3: Falling Down.
If you have not played the game, the story is winding down to the finale between S.E.E.S members and the cause of the mysterious Dark Hour, but that is when things become difficult. The trailer reveals that Strega, the antagonist Persona user, is still around.
The movie will contain familiar scenes like Chidori’s hospital scene, which played a crucial role in Persona 3’s story progression.
Persona 3 the Movie #3: Falling Down will also introduce the mysterious transfer student known as Ryoji Mochizuki, whose fate is tied with protagonist Makoto. The interaction between Makoto and Ryoji will ultimately play the important role in the final showdown with the source of the mysterious Dark Hour.
Lotus Juice returns to perform “Starless Sky,” which is the theme song for Persona 3 the Movie #3: Falling Down.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, the original game, takes place in 2009 in the fictional city Iwatodai.
Players take on the role of Makoto Yuuki, known as Minato Arisato in the manga adaptation, who transfers to Gekkoukan High School. Makoto discovers his ability to use Persona during his first encounter with the Shadows and becomes the newest addition to S.E.E.S, but the group gains additional members over time.
There is the slim possibility that a fourth movie could come out because of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES, which came out in Japan in 2007 and North America in 2008 and contained an extra adventure called “The Answer,” with Aegis as the main heroine.
This scenario takes place after the main game.
Persona 3 Portable came out a few years later and gave players the option to switch between Makoto and a new female protagonist. The game also had slight tie-ins with Persona 4 and Catherine.
This movie may likely see an international let alone North American release late this year or early next year.
