God Eater is currently celebrating the fifth anniversary of the series and Bandai Namco has streamed a special promotional video revealing plans for God Eater 2: Rage Burst and an upcoming Japanese anime series adaptation.
God Eater 2: Rage Burst is an enhanced version of God Eater 2, originally released on the Playstation Portable (PSP) and Playstation Vita (PSV), which will release on the Playstation 4 (PS4) and PSV. The game is being scheduled to release in Japan sometime this month, but you can pre-order the game on February 5th.
You may want to pre-order the digital version instead of the retail version because the former can be played on midnight of release day.
Both the digital and retail versions for the PS4 will give a Playstation Plus 15-day trial.
It is unknown if Bandai Namco has any plans to release the game internationally let alone to North America and Europe.
Ufotable will be in charge of the anime’s production, which is scheduled to air in Japan this summer and it is unknown if it will stream internationally. It will likely stream in North America depending on which company acquires that regional license.
If FUNimation gets the North American license, then the God Eater anime will be available on its streaming service.
If another company acquires the license, then it may likely be available on Crunchyroll.
The story of God Eater takes place in the latter half of the 21st century in 2071, where the Aragami has destroyed most of the world and wiped out most of humanity. Humanity strikes back against the Aragami by special weapons known as God Arcs.
God Arc wielders are called the titular “God Eaters” and they work of the organization known as Fenrir. God Eater 2, which came out in 2013, takes place three years after God Eater.
