Capcom decided to reboot its popular hack ‘n slash action series Devil May Cry after the fourth main installment, which led to the company teaming up with Ninja Theory to create DmC: Devil May Cry.
DmC: Devil May Cry came out in January 2013 and rebooted everything.
Dante and Virgil were still separated, but the new story paints them has half-demon and half-angel beings known as “nephilims.” They are the only two nephilims in existence, but Mundus only knows of Dante’s existence.
The two brothers are still regarded as “Sons of Sparda,” which marked Dante for death by Mundus.
Virgil operated behind-the-scenes and in the shadows, leading an underground resistance to take down Mundus, while Dante fought in the front lines doing all of the “dirty work.” The two brothers have a falling out at the end when Virgil reveals his true plans for world domination.
The game is being re-released on March 10th as DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
Capcom’s latest trailer introduces a new game mode for the game called “Vergil’s Bloody Palace.”
This game mode is a harder version of “Dante’s Bloody Palace” containing 60 floors and three difficulty modes: Nephilim, Son of Sparda, and Vergil Must Die. The difficulty level goes up automatically after beating every 20 floors.
Another trailer was streamed a few days ago that promotes combos. It also reveals that DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition adds a new dynamic “Must Style,” which requires you to perform stylish combos to completely kill enemies.
A new feature makes it easier to lock onto specific enemies. The target icon on the locked on enemy also contains a life meter showing how much it has left.
This was touted back them as the franchise going in a new direction.
