‘Detective Conan — The Hellfire Sunflowers’ all about Kaito Kid

Detective Conan aka Case Closed fans should already know that the 19th installment of the animated film franchise is hitting theaters in April. This film is titled Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno, which puts Shinichi Kudo aka Conan Edogawa at odds with the famous thief Kaito Kid.

TOHO, which will distribute the movie to theaters across Japan, streamed the first full-length trailer for the upcoming new film.

The story starts out in New York City, where a replica of Vincent Van Gogh’s titular “Sunflowers” painting is up for auction. Kaito Kid, one of Conan’s arch rivals, crashes the auction and steals the painting.

Conan is suspicious of Kaito Kid’s reason for stealing the painting because the latter is known for stealing more valuable stuff like jewels and other riches, which means stealing the painting is out of character for the latter.

But it does not stop Conan from pursuing Kid and finding the answers, which leads him on a dangerous adventure where other people’s lives are in jeopardy.

The movie will release on April 18th, which is the same month Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F is scheduled to release.

Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F takes place near the end of the Dragon Ball Z series and sometime after Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Frieza, who was killed by Future Trunks, is resurrected by the Dragon Balls.

It is up to the Z Fighters to stop Frieza’s invasion of Earth.

Kaito Kid is the identity of Kaito Kuroba, whose late father was the previous incarnation. It is believed Kaito’s father was killed by the Black Organization, which is responsible for slipping Shinichi Kudo a poison that turned him into a child instead of killing him.

You can watch Magic Kaito 1412, which stars Kaito Kid, on Crunchyroll.

Detective Conan: The Hellfire Sunflowers will likely make it to North America later this year or early next year and it is likely that FUNimation may acquire the regional license for the movie.
