Fans of Dengeki Bunko’s A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun series, which can be seen on Hulu and FUNimation, should know that A Certain Magical Index: The Movie – The Miracle of Endymion is coming out tomorrow on home video via Blu-Ray and DVD from FUNimation.
This new original adventure brings the never ending battle between sorcery and science, respectively from the Magical Index and Scientific Railgun series to a whole new level.
FUNimation has streamed a few preview clips to promote the movie and they center on Arisa Meigo, a street performer, who drives the entire plot of the story. The first clip introduces Arisa performing on the side of the street, where she meets protagonists Toma Kamjiou and Index Librarium, the heroes of A Certain Magical Index.
The running gag of Index angrily biting Toma repeatedly is in the movie as the clip has shown.
Arisa, like Toma, is classified as a Level 0 Esper.
Like Toma, however, Arisa is similar to Toma in many ways because her power cannot exactly be measured. Her voice has an enchanting power, which brings attention to the sorcery and science sides of the spectrum.
Arisa explains that she would not have been a singer if she was not a Level 0 Esper, but her singing ability is an actual superhuman ability.
It is up to Touma and Index to protect Arisa, with help from Misaka Mikoto from A Certain Scientific Railgun.
Touma engages in battles against sorcerers and espers wanting to kidnap Arisa and claim her power for themselves. This once again forces Touma to fight against Style Magnus of the English Puritan Church, who is often his ally.
This is the only movie in the Magical Index franchise.
A Certain Magical Index centers on Toma and Index, who have to stay and protect each other under certain circumstances. Toma is one of many espers living in the fictional Academy City. He is classified as Level 0 because his “Imagine Breaker,” which negates other abilities, cannot be measured.
The series centers on the magic side of things.
A Certain Scientific Railgun is a spinoff of the series and centers on Misaka Mikoto. The story centers on the science side of things.
