article imageThe Three D’s of Doctor Who: New trailer teases old enemy (VIDEO)

A new teaser-trailer has been released by the BBC for this August’s season of “Doctor Who”; and it seems an old enemy of the Doctor may be about to return.
At just 20 seconds long, the trailer — the third to be released in as many weeks — is, nevertheless, four seconds longer than the first two!
What’s more, unlike the previous ones — which left fans a little underwhelmed, for their lack of concrete details — this one delivers; as Den of Geek succinctly puts it: “it certainly gets the tease bit right.”
In the segment, the Doctor, as now played by Peter Capaldi, is seen at the controls of his TARDIS, whereupon a very familiar-sounding voice is heard intoning in an unmistakable fashion, “I see into your soul, Doctor. I see beauty, divinity, hatred,” which is then followed by that of conventional Dalek voices.
“D” is for “Doctor,” “Daleks,” and “Davros”
The first voice sounds like Davros, the evil creator of the Daleks who was first introduced into the Doctor Who universe 40 years ago, in the 1974 Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) serial, Genesis of the Daleks.
The Daleks themselves had made their debut over a decade earlier, in 1963, in the First Doctor (William Hartnell) serial, Dead Planet (sometimes known as The Daleks). Since then, they have returned to the show more times than any other adversary, their last appearances being during the 50th-anniversay year, 2013.
Davros, however, was last seen in 2008, when he returned to take on the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) in The Stolen Planet and Journey’s End.

versions of the first official trailer and the second official trailer; so, surely, it won’t be long before someone does so for this one.
Meanwhile, as for the series itself, Doctor Who Season 8 will premiere in the UK and US on Saturday, August 23. The feature-length adventure, Deep Breath, by Steven Moffat, stars Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, who will be joined by Neve McIntosh (Madame Vastra), Catrin Stewart (Jenny Flint) and Dan Starkey (Commander Strax).
An advance screening of the first episode is due to take place at St David’s Hall in Cardiff on Thursday, August 7, marking the start of the first-ever Doctor Who World Tour.
