The Chinese government has removed four American TV shows from streaming companies as they look to tighten restrictions on what viewers watch in the communist country.
The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, The Good Wife, and The Practice were all removed with little notice on Sunday. While no official word has come from the move, it's believed the government is trying to crackdown on streaming sites which have begun showing more foreign programming in recent years.
Youku, the largest and most popular streaming site in China was notified on Saturday by The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the removal, but no reason was given.
The manager of another streaming site reportedly was told to "clean up" the website and these four programs were part of the order. Despite their removal. the people of China still have plenty of options from American TV and surprisingly the most popular choice is seasons one and two of Nikita with a reported 472 million views.
