British viewers will be able to watch CBS’s brand-new high-concept science-fiction thriller, “Extant”, within 24 hours of its US premiere, it has been announced.
Amazon Prime Instant Video (formerly LOVEFiLM) will stream each episode of the series to UK subscribers the day after it’s seen in the US.
Extant, which stars Halle Berry (X-Men: Days of Future Past), will premiere on CBS in the US on Wednesday, July 9, then follow in the UK on Thursday, July 10.
It’s what Netflix did with the final episodes of Breaking Bad, the American crime drama series that starred Godzilla’s Bryan Cranston.
Extant follows astronaut Molly Woods (Berry), who returns to Earth after being isolated in space for the previous 13 months. Though safely back home, she hasn’t returned alone …
As reported by Digital Spy, Amazon Instant Video Film & TV’s strategy director, Chris Bird describes the drama as “a bold and thrilling new series from some of the biggest names in entertainment.”

“Having such a highly anticipated and star-studded show premiere exclusively on Prime Instant Video,” Bird says, “is a perfect example of our ongoing commitment to bringing the very best in movie and TV entertainment to our customers in the UK.”
The 13-part series also stars Goran Visnjic (ER), Hiroyuki Sanada (Sunshine) and Pierce Gagnon (Looper).
