French radio show host Simon chatted with Digital Journal about the success of his syndicated show, "The Rendezvous with Simon and Kim."
On being the first syndicated French radio talk show host in the United States, he said, "It is a dream come true. I still remember when I was a teen in Paris, how my first English teacher made fun of me and my thick French accent, so now being the first syndicated French radio talk show host in the U.S. is the biggest pride of my professional life so far. It is my own American dream, and for the record, I am still taking English classes every Sunday."
He noted that his parents still have a tremendous positive influence on who he is today as a adult man. "I owe them everything; all I am is mostly because of them and their love and support. Not because my father Robert Badinter is such a famous respected humanitarian and senator in France and the man who abolished the death penalty in France in 1981, or because my mother Elisabeth is such a wonderful feminist , successful writer and philosopher, but because mostly my dad gave me the will to always dare in life, and my mom gave me 'ma joie de vivre,' which translates into 'my joy of life' and that is priceless to have from your parents," he said.
Badinter described "Rendezvous with Simon Marcel and Kim Iverson" as a great fun, live, insightful conversation where two friends, Kim and myself , and the listeners meet on air and talk together about all the different aspects of dating, love, relationships, sex, breakups and online dating. "We have a very open candid, direct, honest conversation every night with our callers and listeners. We are not doctors. We are two friends, with our own experiences, our own leanings, our ups and downs, our own insight. Kim is a very smart, beautiful woman with all the realism of a education and upbringing in Idaho, and me with the insight and romantic expectation from being raised and having lived the first 28 years of my life in Paris, France . We give advice, we ask our listeners direct questions, and hear the most crazy, fun stories. It is a lot of fun," he exclaimed.
He added, "It is unbelievable for me to be syndicated on more than 30 stations, a dream come true. I started as 'a weekender' back in 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio. Kim and I are very proud and grateful for doing our show together and to iHeart Media and our listeners for being so good to us."
His future plans are for his radio show to continue to grow, by adding more listeners and stations and to develop a TV show concept. "I have started to work on that and it is very unique. Also, I am finishing my first book," he said.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling to Wyoming or New Mexico to enjoy the wild space and peaceful atmosphere. "Reading books is one of my true passions, at least one book a week, listening to a lot of music, karaoke and playing ping pong with friends," he said.
Badinter concluded, "People often ask me if I miss living in France, and I say not at all. I am a happy and proud American citizen, from France, and I only miss my family and friends from France. This country (U.S.A.) has allowed me to change careers, from being a advertising executive to a radio talk show host at 45, and that would have never happened in France. That is why I agree with the saying 'Only in America'."
