article imageSet your designs on 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'

If you dare, channel your inner costume designer to create a unique look for this season of 'American Horror Story: Freak Show.' Join the troupe of curiosities and — by your own design — become a part of the freakiest contest under the big top.
To celebrate the much-anticipated fourth season of American Horror Story, subtitled Freak Show (premiering October 8), FX Networks is sponsoring an American Horror Story: Freak Show Costume Design Contest (details below). For those too squeamish to have yet to tune in, the highly-rated, multi-Emmy nominated American Horror Story is a horror television series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Described as an anthology series, each season is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a disparate set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own beginning, middle, and end.
Following the success of Season Three, American Horror Story: Coven (which scored acting Emmys for stars Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates), American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.

With Freak Show, Jessica Lange returns for her fourth season on American Horror Story (the Emmy-winner previously endured life in the installments Murder House, Asylum and Coven), portraying a German expatriate who runs the traveling freak show. AHS veterans Sarah Paulson, Francis Conroy and Evan Peters are back, as are Coven alums Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe. Wes Bentley, John Carroll Lynch, Finn Wittrock, Jyoti Amge, Patti LaBelle and Matt Bomer will be making their American Horror Story debuts in Freak Show.
WHAT: FX is launching a costume design competition. The contest invites participants with an eye for the unusual to design an original costume inspired by the series. Contestants will submit their American Horror Story sketches along with a description of their design inspirations, which will be judged by the show’s head costume designer Lou Eyrich, Fashion Designer Christian Siriano, and President of Marketing and On-air Promotions for FX, Stephanie Gibbons.
The Grand Prize winner will be awarded a $5,000.00 cash prize and the garment will be created and worn by a model in a one-of-a-kind photo shoot. The winner will also meet and greet with costume designer Lou Eyrich. The selected winning garment will be displayed on the American Horror Story website and shared on social media platforms. Additionally, a runner-up will receive a $1,500.00 cash prize, and social media acknowledgement.
