Review: What a wonderful world in ‘Warcraft’ — Trailer

Since its inception back in 1994 as Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, World of Warcraft has evolved into a cultural phenomenon, boasting 5.6 million subscribers in 2015. With such a rabid fan base wanting more, a feature film was the obvious follow-up to Blizzard Entertainment’s ever-growing empire.

Based in a world of sword and sorcery, Warcraft is a online roleplaying game where one creates and developers a character to quest and fight alongside other subscribers. That was the simple explanation. Not being a player myself, to try and explain the entire story, gameplay and what-have-you would be both futile and sad. Links have been provided for those delving deeper. And it goes deep.

The trailer itself, however, is merely a snippet of what one can expect to see from Warcraft. Now, before you get too excited the following offers a fast paced a run time of 16 seconds. Although brief, the team behind the trailer provide a fun tease. Sweeping visuals, epic lands and mid-evil action. Everything a fanboy, or girl, wants in a big screen adaptation. Starring Travis Fimmel, Dominic Cooper, Ben Foster and Clancy Brown, director Duncan Jones seems to have imbued his sharp vision into what has been to us given thus far. So here, my friends, is a morsel of ‘Warcraft’ to feed those hungry appetites. Bon appetit!
