Episode four of The Testament of Sister New Devil, titled “Until Sadness Reaches Zero,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for paid members. Free members can watch this same episode roughly less than seven days from now.
To start things off, Basara got royally f—ked and took an attack to the back that was originally meant for Mio. I didn’t expect Yuki to come save the day, which means she obviously still cares a lot about Basara.
I was surprised that Basara had a traumatic childhood, which seems to be the norm for teenage male warriors. It reminded me of Thor in episode 3 of Absolute Duo, when he said he enrolled at this academy to get stronger to avenge people.
Basara has a stainless steel pair on him for daring to confront a possessed Seito.
I was surprised to learn that Basara had a hidden power, which can turn him into a “time bomb” if and when angered. Basara kind of reminds me of the Marvel Comics villain Nitro, whose actions combined by the incompetence of the New Warriors sparked the Civil War crossover story arc.
At least I know why Jin and his father were exiled from the hero clan.
Yuki’s battle transformation was a treat to see and can obviously see that she cares a lot for Basara and will go after anybody that harms a single hair on his body.
This is the first serious battle that I have seen in The Testament of Sister New Devil and I am definitely loving it. These people do not mess around in combat and I am glad that the mysterious masked demon is no pushover.
The demon’s attack reminded me of episode three to Aldnoah.Zero 2 because that is the same way Lord Saazbaum had died.
I am glad that Basara isn’t introduced as omnipotent or the story would get boring. It shows that the other characters are getting nerfed.
It was surprising that Takigawa revealed himself as the demon, but was more surprised at Basara using keen intuition to put “two and two” together.
This episode compensated for the lack of sexual content with plenty of fighting, which I have no problem with. I was wondering when things were going to get serious. The fact that this episode wasn’t sexed up at all surprised me greatly, but was still enjoyable to watch.
