Review: ‘The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun’— Debut trailer

*Before reading: Links may contain spoilers. NSFW*

It was on a whim that I watched the debut trailer for a French film entitled, The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun, which I shall now refer to as L.C.G.G. for the sake of readership. With a trailer as odd as its title, I was thrown for a loop while it played. Previews cut this well deserve an award.

Not reading the plotline ahead of viewing, it would be remiss of me to leak the actual story before one had an opportunity to watch the trailer, but you can click the links if spoilers are for you.

Harkening back to another trailer released this month, By the Sea, L.C.G.G. plays like a French New Wave film, slow and artsy — at first. Suddenly, and without warning, the trailer takes a turn I did not see coming. Even now, that sounds like I’ve said too much.

Based on a book by Sabastien Jabrisot, this is not the first time L.C.G.G. has been adapted for the big screen. The original, sharing the same title, was released in 1970 with a second version in 1992 called simply The Lady in the Car.

Riveted by the experience, this is a big recommend, with hopes of the film performing as well as the preview. Be your own critic and watch The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun, I’m just here to help.

Release Date: December 18, 2015
