article imageReview: Sally Field stars in 'Hello, My Name is Doris' — Trailer

By Adam Mock     Nov 5, 2015 in Entertainment
In her latest film 'Hello, My Name is Doris' Sally Field asks the question, "Should age determine how young you truly are?"
With two-time Oscar winner Sally Field teaming up with quirky writer/director Michael Showalter, we are all in for a treat with their new film Hello, My Name is Doris. Premiering at SXSW, the plot revolves around Doris Miller (Field), a woman in her 60's, who has lived a quiet life up until the day she meets John, a much younger co-worker. After attending a self-help seminar she developes a new found confidence and decides to woo him. This leads Doris on a journey of self-discovery which she never could have imagined. From the storyline one might find the concept off putting, but to give more than a brief synopsis would be doing the audience a disservice.
Sally Field, along with a well rounded cast played by Max Greenfield, Beth Behrs, Isabella Acres, Stephen Root, Natasha Lyonne, as well as fellow veteran actress Tyne Daly as Doris' best friend, bring a sweet charm to the film. With Michael Showalter at the helm, a comedian known for his offbeat skills both in front of and behind the camera, Hello, My Name is Doris could be the surprise hit of his career.
What first catches the eye in regards to the film is the poster, a simple shot of Sally Field walking with a funky lamp, an image which gives very few hints as to the story. Subtly odd, the mind wanders, delving further to find the trailer. Upon watching, you've really found something special. Well done in its marketing, few films intrigue viewers and deliver in the end.
Co-written by Laura Terruso, this is a huge recommend, Hello, My Name is Doris will hopefully live up to what the trailer portrays. Enjoy.
