Episode 2 of Aldnoah.Zero 2, titled “The Beautiful and Damned,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for paid subscribers. If you are a free member, you can watch “The Beautiful and Damned” about six days from now.
I was surprised that Inaho survived the gunshot to the head and was further surprised by the fact he has a cybernetic eye.
Part of me was hoping that Inaho died because I felt it would make the story more enriching. I have no problems with Inaho, but I felt that this could be a chance for the other characters to become smarter and stronger if he was not around. In the first season, everybody got dependent on Inaho to take on the big bad Vers Knights.
I still wonder why Slaine spared Lord Saazbaum when the latter shot Asseylum repeatedly.
Slaine was very protective of Asseylum and tried to prevent her assassination, which contradicted his actions at the end of the first season of Aldnoah.Zero.
Princess Lemrina is the new female protagonist, who is “taking over” as Asseylum is currently in a coma.
The scene’s start shows Inaho’s new eye in action, which I laughed when he used it to scan Inko’s body weight.
Inaho can be a jerk at times, but at least he didn’t stoop low and scanned Inko’s bust size. I have to say that Inko has every right to be defensive, but I was expecting her to either smack Inaho upside the head and violently punch him in the shoulder.
That entire scene was golden and Inaho did viewers one better by asking Inko if she was “stress eating.”
Saazbaum caught me by surprise by getting Slaine’s opinion before sparking an insurrection against the nobles. He and Slaine come to the agreement on Vers’ situation, which echoes members and supporters of the Occupy Movement.
I do agree with Saazbaum’s view as it is one of the reasons the world has many economic problems.
The talk was educational when Saazbaum and Slaine agreed that simply conquering Earth alone would not make Vers a better place because the resources would only end up in the hands of the wealthy. It is safe to say that a “trickle down economy,” nicknamed “Reaganomics,” would never work in Vers nor would it improve the quality of life on the planet.
I have the feeling that Lemrina is going to play a role in a possible insurrection because the way she has been treated due to being born to a different mother.
Lemrina makes a valid point, which can be connected to Saazbaum’s view on Vers’ current socioeconomic climate. Asseylum and Lemrina, too, are victims because they are sought after because of their genetic ability to activate the titular Aldnoah Drives. I am glad that Lemrina knows what is really going on though she is shrewd about it.
I didn’t expect Slaine to go on the defensive and bear his soul to Lemrina. At least Lemrina didn’t get subjected to the cruelty and discrimination that Slaine went through ever since he crash landed on Vers.
Lemrina comes off nice to Slaine, but I feel she will try to off Asseylum when the time is right.
I enjoyed the first-ever space battle in the series, but was not surprised when Inaho came to save the day like he always does. It makes me feel that the Earth forces are getting overdependent on Inaho. They would be f—ked if something happened and Inaho actually died, which would leave them without their lifesaving “ace in the hole.”
The best part of the episode was the fated rematch between Inaho and Slaine, respectively, with the former’s high-level intellect & cybernetic eye and the latter’s use of the Aldnoah Drive.
I really enjoyed watching this new episode of Aldnoah.Zero 2.
The secret conspiracy subplot was more bearable and easy to watch than the recent new Netflix Original series Marco Polo, which came out in December. Aldnoah.Zero is slowly to mirroring Zone of the Enders, which I have no problem with.
