Review: ‘Fairy Tail 2’ EP 42 has some anthropomorphic ‘penis monster’

Episode 42 of Fairy Tail 2, titled “Celestial Sprit Beast,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and FUNimation for premium members. Free members can watch this episode seven days from now.

This episode is part of the filler arc, where the Golden Key Celestial Spirits have turned against their masters, but everybody ended up being tricked by the corrupted Spirit King and Ophiuchus. I personally cannot wait for this story arc to be over with.

“Celestial Spirit Beast” begins with Natsu delivering the final knockout blow to Ophiuchus, but things aren’t that easy.

Horologium appears and gives everybody special clothing that allows them to freely navigate the Celestial Spirit World, but I thought the outfits were incredibly lame. It is like how all the active DC Comics superheroes became White Lanterns at the end of the Darkest Night crossover story.

I had a WTF look on my face after seeing the corrupted Celestial Spirit King because his head looked like a large uncircumcised penis. The design shows a blunt lack of originality and it makes me think that the production studio wasn’t taking this filler arc seriously.

The anthropomorphic penis monster, the corrupted Celestial Spirit King, has one redeeming factor, which is the ability to transform people into constellations in the sky. It sucks that Juvia ended up being the penis monster’s first target.

I have to admit that this is a very terrifying ability, which I like because this filler arc was being too much of a cliché.

Overall it was a passable episode, but there are better filler arcs.
