Episode eight of Durarara!! x 2, titled “The Ladies’ Man Has Neither Money Nor Power,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu for paid subscribers. Free subscribers can watch the same episode six days from now on March 7th.
Masaomi Kida, Mikado’s best friend, ends up working for Izaya Orihara and is currently out of town with Saki.
Akane, who tried to kill Shizuo in episode five, reveals that she was manipulated into doing so because she believed that he was the hitman hired to kill her.
I broke into laughter when Akane said that “big brother Izaya” told her that Shizuo was out to kill her because I am not surprised. You should already know that Shizuo and Izaya do not like each other and the latter is always looking for ways to f—k with the former’s head.
This is an example of one of the many cruel “jokes” that Izaya likes to play on Shizuo.
I can now understand Shizuo’s murderous rage being directed towards Izaya, but it is ultimately part of Izaya’s plan to bring misery onto everybody out of his “love for humanity.” He has a twisted way of showing his love for mankind.
S—t is obviously about to fly because Aoba has led Mikado to a warehouse that Celty is scoping out for research, which is also under surveillance by Varona and Sloan. It is obvious that Varona is interested in taking down Celty because she is a supernatural being.
Aoba makes the shocking revelation that he is responsible for the Dollars’ attack on Chikage’s gang in Saitama. It is obvious that Izaya had put Aoba up to it as a means to spark a massive-scale gang war as part of his ultimate scheme to “show love through inflicting misery.”
I was surprised at that revelation, but was more shocked at the fact that Aoba admits that he and his friends are part of Blue Square.
This is the same Blue Square, which Kadota was apart of, that clashed with Masaomi’s Yellow Scarves in the past. It made me think of the second arc in the first series as Blue Square infiltrated the Yellow Scarves to wage war on the Dollars as part of Izaya’s grand scheme.
I found it interesting that Chikage was visiting an art gallery at the same time just to hit on one of the curators. I laughed when Chikage sweet talked the curator and “persuaded” the owner to buy this painting that they were trying to get him to buy in the first place.
I am guessing Chikage has no money, but wants to help the woman out though. He is chivalrous in a gangbanger sense.
Walker’s arrival at the art gallery surprised me, but I laughed when he started asking the hardball questions about how much cash actually goes to the artist and so forth. I think he is a retail representative’s worst nightmare, by the way he bombards people with questions and opinions.
Aoba’s proposition to Mikado surprised me greatly and I feel it is part of Izaya’s bigger plan.
This episode is like the penultimate episode to what is about to go down and I am curious to see how Chikage reacts when he learns the true nature of the Dollars. Izaya’s scheme is obviously coming into fruition and everybody else is being forced for the ride.
