Similar to his previous shows at Foxwoods Resort Casino, it began with his Las Vegas sidekicks Fifi and The Great Maestro doing a witty comedy routine that involved magic.
It featured illusionist Landon Swank debuting a new trick, where he invited a female audience member on stage, and asked her to reveal her age, and prior to that, he completed a neat math maze. While her age, 48, was not on that list, he was able to prove to her that all those numbers added up to 48, thus leaving the audience members spellbound.
Chloe Crawford returned as the female fatale from last month’s Foxwoods show, where she swallowed razors, triumphed in Houdini’s straight-jacked escape, and successfully completed Angel’s classic “metamorphosis” demonstration later on in the show with Angel, proving that they are a true force to be reckoned with.
Stefan’s card manipulation number earned him a standing ovation from The Paramount crowd, and Banachek showcased his tremendous mentalist abilities by guessing various facts from different audience members, all of which he never met before. Adrian Vega performed his street magic and close-up routine well, despite several issues with the video screens during his performance.
Johnny Dominguez was impressive in his dog conjuring routine, while escape artist Spencer Horsman fulfilled the “Submerged” water escape yet again successfully, which was the most precarious demonstration of the evening.
In the second part of the show, Angel took over The Paramount stage. “I’m back, Long Island, in my home,” he shouted, prior to noting that it feels like he never left here.
“Did you enjoy ‘The Supernaturalists?'” he asked, prior to apologizing for the technical difficulties during the show, due to the video not displaying on the giant televised screens, yet the audio was present.
Angel recalled being 14 years old in East Meadow with his brothers, where they would perform the metamorphosis together in his house. Angel noted that performing in Las Vegas is “amazing,” but being home is even “more amazing” since he got his start early on in life down the block in Huntington. He praised The Paramount for being one of his “favorite places.”
His close-up routine with coins was impeccable, and he was able to prove his high school classmates and friends correct that he may be indeed from a “black star,” due to his supernatural abilities. Angel’s version of “In Two” was slightly different than in previous shows, since it was conducted without the giant circular saw, yet it was still refreshing and incredible, as his assistant, Harmony, was able to split in half.
He thanked his family members including his mom, Demetra, and Aunt Stella, who were in the audience, as well as several of his closest friends growing up, and The Paramount owner, Stephen, whom he dubbed as a “dear family friend.”
Angel closed his show with “Enigma,” which had a unique twist to it this time, that left everybody rewarding him and “The Supernaturalists” with a lengthy standing ovation.
The Verdict
Overall, Criss Angel and “The Supernaturalists” proved once again that they are at the top of their game in the craft of magic. They blow every other magic show out there out of the water. Theirs is original, diverse, daring and simply divine. Angel is a true innovator, a magic genius, and a modern trailblazer. Despite a few technical difficulties with the video screens, they all did an excellent job, and were able to showcase their talents in an up-close and intimate venue such as The Paramount. Their show earned two giant thumbs up.
