article imageReview: Comedian Jim Breuer hysterical at The Paramount in New York Special

By Markos Papadatos     Feb 14, 2015 in Entertainment
Huntington - On Feb. 14, comedian Jim Breuer performed a stand-up comedy show at The Paramount in Huntington, N.Y., for a great Valentine's Day turnout.
As he took The Paramount stage, Breuer was greeted with a standing ovation. "Excellent," he said, noting that the weather was "nasty."
For Breuer, snow is not fun whatsoever and every winter is getting worse and worse, especially with blizzard warnings, which could only mean one thing for the veteran comedian. His kids are off from school and that is when the "circus begins," especially since it involves multiple hours of video game playing.
"Long Islanders never leave Long Island, and they complain about it," he said. "They don't even know the next town Massapequa."
He noted that cruises are humanity at its worst. "As soon as you get on the boat, you are wasted, and you cannot find your cabin," he said. Even worse are metal cruises, where one hears non-stop metal music. He poked fun at cruise workers and dubbed them as "hostages."
Breuer subsequently revealed his age to the audience, 47, and noted that "once you are in your forties, its weird." "Getting old is not fun," he said, and recalled an incident where he pulled a muscle in his rectum and that became a painful ordeal for him.
He also made fun of his parents, his obsessive mother and his father, who is having difficulties controlling his excretory functions; moreover, he shared that he is married for 22 years to his wife, whom he considers the "love of his life," yet she loves animals.
Equally witty was his explanation of his last trip to Africa, where he went on a safari with his family. They had to live in tents with lions and hyenas surrounding them, which he referred to as a "haunting sound." Prior to his odyssey in the African wildness, he noted that he did he research on YouTube on "people being eaten on safaris" and a number of search results came up.
The Verdict
Overall, Jim Breuer was very animated and dramatic at his live stand-up comedy show. It was entertaining and enjoyable. It garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
