Episode eight of Aldnoah.Zero, titled “The Light of Day,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu for paid subscribers. Free members can watch this same episode six days from now on March 7th.
S—t has hit the fan since the last episode as Inaho Kaizuka has entered into a difficult battle with not one, but three Orbital Knights with different abilities.
It is obviously Slaine’s way of punishing Inaho because Princess Asseylum was calling out his name instead of Slaine’s name. You can obviously tell, if you have been keeping up with the anime, Slaine is incredibly envious of Inaho.
I was wondering when Inaho would end up fighting a losing battle, but I went “holy s—t” when one of the enemies could replicate itself.
Slaine has achieved his first victory over Inaho, but he still has the big battle of getting Vers’ nobility on his side and it will be no easy task. There is the risk of Princess Lemrina being exposed as Asseylum’s impostor, which will ultimately be Slaine’s downfall.
I just started watching season three of Netflix’s House of Cards and thought Slaine is Aldnoah.Zero’s equivalent to US President Frank Underwood. Slaine apparently reveals that he never cared for Earth because he “does not belong there” and that it is filled with “vulgar trash.”
This shows that Slaine ultimately sides with Vers and that means he and Inaho are fated to be enemies since day one. I think that will play a role in Slaine’s undoing because Lemrina recites the same words to Count Mazuurek, who was previously instructed to find the real Asseylum.
It is obvious that Mazuurek suspects that Inaho was right all along. I am starting to like Mazurrek and hopes that he does not get killed later on.
If that is not the least of Slaine’s growing pains, then there is the chance that Lemrina will have an emotional breakdown. I think she will actively try to get rid of Princess Asseylum and hope that Slaine truly acknowledges her.
This episode really made me think a lot.
I will first say that this episode feels like House of Cards, Game of Thrones, and Death Note got together one night and had some drunken orgy. Slaine is like Frank Underwood from House of Cards because of his plotting.
It is also similar to Game of Thrones because Slaine is climbing up the ranks of Vers nobility.
Finally, this is similar to Death Note because of the involvement of two females. Lemrina now suspects that Slaine lied about Asseylum. On the same note, Asseylum now remembers what happened to her at the end of the first season.
