Alnoah.Zero 2 starts off by recapping the ending of Alnoah.Zero, which shows Seylum and Inaho getting shot at the end. Slaine, one of the three protagonists of Alnoah.Zero, witnessed Lord Saazbaum shoot Seylum twice. I was puzzled on why Slaine spared Saazbaum and shot Inaho instead at the end of Aldnoah.Zero. Episode one of Aldnoah.Zero 2, titled “This Side of Paradise,” fast forwards 19 months since the end of Aldnoah.Zero.
The battle of Earth and Vers continues, but this time the fight has taken to space.
I wonder why Slaine stuck with Vers when he learned of Saazbaum’s duplicity in trying to have Princess Seylum killed.
Warring continues as Earth’s only hope must deal with the Vers Knights without the help of Inaho, whose strategies and tactics proven to be helpful. I was hoping to see them actually fight off a Vers Knight without the help of Inaho.
When you think about it, they need to in case Inaho gets killed permanently. I am happy to see Inaho in action again, but the anime should make it show that everybody else is learning to be proficient without him around.
The Vers Knights on the same note need to stop underestimating Inaho.
I was convinced that Inaho would have stayed dead for Aldnoah.Zero 2 because of the whole bullet to the head at point-blank range situation. That surprised me, but I was surprised more by the fact that Inaho is able to activate the Aldnoah Drive, which has taken the Ducalion to outer space.
I wondered why Seylum appeared to be alive, but enjoy the plot twist of newcomer Princess Lemrina taking up her identity and rallying Vers to wage war on Earth and exterminate all Terrans. I thought Seylum was dead, but was shocked to see her in stasis undergoing recovery.
Aldnoah.Zero 2 kicks off with an interesting start.
I have plenty of questions like why Slaine chose to spare Saazbaum and agreed to help him achieve his selfish “dream?” The last time I checked, Slaine was treated like garbage by the people of Vers because he is originally from Earth.
It makes me wonder what will happen to Seylum when she wakes up.
Episode one was enjoyable to watch and I am somewhat satisfied with Inaho being alive. I hope Aldnoah.Zero 2 is just as good as the first season.
I also have to say Lemrina has my attention, too. I feel she’s going to play a major role in Aldnoah.Zero 2.
