article imageProducers pick 'Birdman'

By Tim O'Brien     Jan 25, 2015 in Entertainment
"Birdman" just hauled in the top prize from the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and adds more drama to an uncertain Best Picture Oscar race. Both "Boyhood" and "Birdman" have been battling it out during award season.
The PGA also threw a couple curves along the way. They did not throw curves to themselves, but rather to Oscar voters. It also means snub can include other films besides the ones making the headlines. The wins tonight for documentary and animated film were also snubbed from Oscar, yet do not always get that recognition.
"Life Itself" won for documentary while "The LEGO Movie" takes home animation from the PGA. Each of those films are not up for Oscar in their respective categories. So, enter some controversy. It will not last long since the SAG Awards will be handed out Jan. 25 in Los Angeles.
In the TV categories, "Breaking Bad" took drama while "Orange is the New Black" took the comedy award.
