With just four weeks to go before Peter Capaldi’s tenure as the Doctor in the BBC’s flagship science-fiction drama series gets properly under way, a new trailer has been released.
In it, the Doctor (Capaldi) simply asks viewers to: “Listen!”
Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are set to return to television screens on Saturday, August 23 — a touch over eight months since Matt Smith turned into Peter Capaldi in The Time of the Doctor, exactly nine months on from the moment Capaldi’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-’em piercing eyes stared out of TV screen in the Doctor Who 50th-anniversay special, The Day of the Doctor, and just over a year since Capaldi was actually unveiled as the new Doctor live on television, in the one-off show, Doctor Who Live: The Twelfth Doctor.
The feature-length adventure, Deep Breath, will receive its television premiere in several countries and also in cinemas around the world.
Deep Breath is written by Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat and directed by the film director Ben Wheatley (A Field in England). Joining Capaldi and Coleman in the episode will be Madame Vastra (Neve McIntosh), Jenny Flint (Catrin Stewart) and Commander Strax (Dan Starkey), who together make up the Paternoster Gang, first introduced in 2011 in A Good man Goes To War.
Talking of good men, in two previous trailers released earlier in July, the Doctor asked Clara: “Am I a good man?” That question will be answered in just under four weeks from now!
