Season 1 of
Orphan Black aired in 2013, in Canada, the US and the UK, to wide appreciation from viewers and critics alike. A second run of episodes was ordered immediately.
As detailed by Den of Geek,
Orphan Black, which became "one of last year's hit geek imports" will benefit from a "reduced lag time between continents. The sci-fi action comedy-drama is coming back to BBC Three in its 10 p.m. slot just a week and a half after the US premiere,"
it reports.
Orphan Black Season 2 will receive its premiere,
simultaneously in the US and Canada, on Saturday, April 19; the UK will follow on Wednesday, April 30.
The season will
once again comprise 10 episodes and will see Maslany
joined by three new cast members: Michiel Huisman (
Treme), who will play Cal Morrison; Peter Outerbridge (
ReGenesis) as Henrik “Hank” Johanssen; and Ari Millen (
Nikita) as Mark.
The
soon-to-be-axed BBC Three has been responsible for showing a number of science-fiction and sci-fi-related series in the UK, including
Torchwood,
Doctor Who,
Doctor Who Confidential.
