By Markos Papadatos     Sep 13, 2014 in Entertainment
The following five ladies are my predicted actresses of who deserves to be nominated for a 2015 Academy Award for "Best Actress."
In the "Best Actress" Oscar category, I would love to finally see Julianne Moore for Still Alice finally get her due. She has always been snubbed by the Academy Awards and she is one of the hardest-working actresses in the industry that can nail any script. Besides, a few years back she played Sarah Palin to the tee and won an Emmy award.
Marion Cotillard is an outstanding actress (I have loved her since her stellar portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose and she has the two new films, Two Days, One Night and The Immigrant, out this year. Knowing her exceptional acting work, both motion pictures should be very promising.
I am also a huge fan of the British acting dames Maggie Smith (best known for her work on Downton Abbey) and Helen Mirren (The Queen), both of which will be releasing My Old Lady and The Hundred Foot Journey respectively. Any roles these Oscar-winning British actresses take turn golden, so I would not be surprised if the Academy Awards embrace them as well, unless they want to nominate younger up-and-coming actresses.
With the Weinstein Company backing Amy Adams she is sure to be a lock for a nod thanks to her role in Big Eyes. Last year, she scored her fifth Oscar nomination, but her first in the leading actress category for her role in American Hustle. She may very well earn her second "Best Actress" nomination this year.
My predicted five "Best Actress" nominees:
Amy Adams for Big Eyes
Marion Cotillard for Two Days, One Night
Helen Mirren for The Hundred-Foot Journey
Julianne Moore for Still Alice
Maggie Smith for My Old Lady
